Public talk on private law and arbitration with Roman Bevzenko (Partner, Pepeliaev Group) and Andrey Panov (Counsel, Allen & mOvery) took place in Kaliningrad on 26 September 2020, moderated by Maria Lyubimova (Head of International Dispute and Arbitration Practice of RegionService Law Offices, Consultant at the S.S. Alekseev Private Law Research Center under the President of the Russian Federation).

Students from the Law Institute of the Kant Baltic Federal University attended the event, and all participants had the opportunity to watch the Public Talk live on YouTube.

The event was held under the auspices of the Young Institute of Modern Arbitration (YIMA). Young IMA is a platform bringing together young specialists in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution with the support of the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration.

Roman Bevzenko shared his story of choosing the legal profession, whereas Andrey Panov spoke on the advantages of obtaining an LLM, as well as the timing for obtaining one.

The speakers shared the secrets of advocacy, as well as talked about preparation for oral hearings and, given the specifics of today's reality, about virtual hearings. The principle of contractual freedom was analysed as well as the principle of proportionality as part of the public policy for the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards.
