Results of the II Essay Competition "A New Look at Dispute Resolution"

In 2022, the Council for Modern Arbitration (Young IMA) held its second essay competition, "A New Look at Dispute Resolution". This year, more than 40 essays were submitted for the competition by young researchers from different regions of Russia.

The essays were evaluated by the three-member Competition Board: Maria Andrianova, Elena Burova and Pavel Sementsov.

The Board is pleased to announce the winners and runners-up:

  • Winner - The Supremacy of Consent: A Domestic View on the Correlation between Substantive Succession and Transfer the Arbitration Clause through the Prism of Comparative Perception.

  • 1st runner-up - Arbitrator's Discretion in the Determination and Application of Substantive Law in the Resolution of Disputes in Institutional Arbitration

  • 2nd runner-up - Cultural Aspects of International Arbitration

The Board also singled out a number of papers which were not among the winners and runners-up, but are worthy of special mention for their novelty and originality of their subjects, as well as their thoroughness of research:

  • Some Aspects of Logical Analysis in the Theory of Alternative Dispute Resolution (Why Non-State Dispute Resolution Institutions Are Possible)"

The essays of the winners and runners-up will be published on the Young IMA website. There will also be a conference in early 2023 at which the authors of the essats will be able to present their work and answer questions.
